American Express Company (AMX) is engaged in massive holiday fraud in their marketing & selling of the American Express Gift Card. Many Banks are advertising that the AMX Gift Card can be used anywhere in the United States that accepts AMX. This is NOT TRUE! Finding a merchant to accept the AMX Gift Card is harder than finding someone to refuse to accept the Card. Federal Banking Regulators are aiding & abetting the fraudulent advertising by allowing banks that sell the AMX Gift Card to continue to engage in Deceptive and Unfair Practices even though the Regulators are charged with enforcing the FTC Act as it relates to the banks they regulate.

American Express Merchants are NOT obligated by law to accept the AMX Gift Card, and it will not work online as currently advertised on AMX’s web site. The AMX Gift Card (Card) is not accepted at Hotels, Airlines, Car Rental Companies, Telecom, Gasoline Merchants, and ATMs. It will NOT work for ONLINE Purchases unless you make special arrangements with AMX. TMA has investigated and discovered why it is being declined by online merchants during the authorization process. It has to do with the Card Processors and the authorization of the Card.

The AMX Gift Card Customer Service Operators have been outsourced by AMX to the West Corporation (WEST) a major Telemarketing Company headquartered in Omaha Nebraska. TMAIT owns law firms that have investigated West Telemarketing, collecting undeniable evidence that West is defrauding buyers and potential buyers of the AMX Gift Card by telling consumers that the AMX Gift card is accepted by online merchants, and TMAIT legally recorded calls with West Operators whereby the West Operator lied about where the AMX Gift Card is accepted, when they failed to mention that the AMX Gift Card is not accepted at , Hotels, Airlines, Car Rental Companies, Telecom, Gasoline Merchants, and ATMs; plus, in the 75 test calls we made requesting sales, not one time did West mention that the AMX Gift Card cannot be used online. West Corporation has been caught intentionally committing fraud along with American Express. In addition, AMX takes no responsibility for merchants refusing to allow the consumer to split a ticket, paying part of the purchase with the full balance on the Gift Card and the rest in cash. This problem could make it impossible to get the full value of the Gift Card as it creates what is called “Breakage.”

Holiday Shoppers…do not ask Santa for the “American Express Gift Card” as it will turn into a bag of coal.
